Sailing in Greece - Essentials to pack with you

Sailing in Greece - Essentials to pack with you

Are you new to sailing and swimming in the sea? Here are some tips, tricks and inside knowledge on all the stuff you need to bring to make the most of your sailing trip abroad. This is all based on personal experience and preferences, if you aren’t new to sailing and just here to try and get some ideas, leave any we missed out in the comments! All suggestions will have a link to an Amazon Product for easy purchase.

Swimming in the Ionian Sea

My obvious answer to whether or not you should spend more time in the clear blue water than out is absolutely! In that case here are some things to get you equipped for this.

Swimwear

Here's one you probably don’t need to be reminded to bring, bring a few pairs for not just style but also comfort and cleanliness and rotate whilst others clean and dry from the salt water. I’m sure you will already have a pair of trunks so no need for a link here!

Snorkel Mask

You can't properly sightsee on a trip like this if you don’t get fully submerged underwater to look at the fishes and golden sand. Full face Snorkel masks are much more enjoyable to use than the classic 2 piece sets so I highly recommend these.

Sea Shoes

The chance to swim up to remote caves and tiny beaches in the smallest of coves would not be the same without the discomfort of stones and rocks taken away by wearing sea shoes.

Air/ Water tight bags

Looking to get some good action shots in the water? Protect your phone with an airtight phone bag. I strongly advise you test these first though before diving right in!

Waterproof Camera

An upgrade on the last option, get yourself a waterproof camera to get the clearest of pictures and videos under the water

Paddleboard

Why not take up a new hobby whilst away? Whether you own a blow up paddleboard already and can haul it over or hire one for the time you are away it is worth it! A more subtle option would be a simple Lilo that can be bought or blown up once your there.

And there you have it. Your travel essentials for swimming in the Ionian Sea. Most of which can be easily squeezed into your hand luggage. Once again leave any comments below of what you would take if there is anything I’ve missed!

  1. Great idea on the paddle board - can you hire them there as not sure I would cart them all that way

Great upsell opportunity for the boat owners - paddle board, snorkles, cameras etc!
